Chamomile is a gentle and mild herb that has been used as a potion, as skin care, hair care, and was always seen as important part for people’s health and well-being throughout the ages. Both the Romans and the Egyptians praised its benefits.

The earliest recorded use of chamomile for medicinal purposes is said to be in 1550 BC. It is recorded in the Papyrus of Eber – an Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge. The Greeks and Egyptians used crushed chamomile flowers to treat skin conditions, erythema, and xerosis caused by dry, harsh weather. Chamomile is also used to relieve fever. The famous physician Hippocrates also mentions it in his writings.
In the 10th century, chamomile was recorded as one of the nine sacred herbs in the Lacnunga, an ancient Anglo-Saxon herbal manuscript.
In Rome it was often used to treat headaches. Chamomile comes in two plant varieties: Roman and German. Roman chamomile was not actually cultivated by the Romans; it was discovered by a British botanist and cultivated in the 16th century and was first included in the Württemberg pharmacopoeia as a carminative, pain reliever, diuretic and digestive aid. Chamomile tea has been brewed for hundreds of years. During the Middle Ages in Europe, it was used as a medicine and diuretic and tonic to deal with pain and fatigue.

Today, we continue to use chamomile in cooking, cosmetics, teas and skin care products. Chamomile is especially known for calming the nerves.

Why did we use chamomile to create these products?

It turns out that in the morning cortisol levels in the human body are greatly reduced. But over time, reduced levels of this hormone lead to an ever-increasing sense of anxiety, emotional stress, and a predisposition to panic attacks. Useful study 2018 г. found that chamomile therapy helped reduce anxiety symptoms and increased morning cortisol levels.

 And research from 2017 г. evaluated the short-term treatment of generalized anxiety using chamomile extract. The researchers found that after eight weeks, 58.1 percent of participants reported a reduction in anxiety symptoms.
